Why Don’t I Feel Like Working?

Why Don’t I Feel Like Working?

Many people spend a significant portion of their lives at work. Sunday evenings are the most dreaded because of the anticipation of going to work on Monday morning.
We are only here for a short time and should not be settling to live a mediocre life and dreading the work that we do.

You must find work that you love and enjoy. Start your journey by investigating and asking yourself why I don’t like my work and why don’t I feel like working.

You probably do not like the work that you do and do not feel like working because you were convinced by your family, teacher, guidance counselor, and society to prioritize, focus, and find work in an area that makes the most money and has a prestigious title that is viewed to be of a higher social status.

You could also be spending a lot of time in a high-pressure, toxic, negative work environment, and are overworked and unhappy at work which can make you feel emotionally exhausted, experience stress, burnout, and an overall deterioration of your mental, and physical health and wellbeing.
So, you may be wondering how can you find and do work that feels like play and not work. Let’s discuss that next.

8 Principles To Make Work Feel Like Play

While the idea of work as drudgery is common, it’s possible to create an environment where work feels more like play. Transform work to play by doing work that you love and live your best life.
Here are eight helpful principles you can embrace and transform your work environment into one that is enjoyable, fulfilling, and energizing.

Do Purposeful Work

Find purposeful work that you are passionate about and love.  You can find a job in a company whose purpose, mission, and vision you are completely aligned with.
You can also start a business to fulfill your purpose, mission, and vision and serve and make a difference by doing the work that you came here to do.
When work aligns with your values and purpose, it can feel deeply meaningful. Find a role or project that resonates with your core beliefs, and you will feel more engaged, motivated, joyful, and blissful.

Foster Your Creativity

Work becomes play when you have the freedom to experiment, innovate, and bring creative ideas to life. Look for opportunities to foster your creativity and innovation because creativity is part of you.
You have come from and are like your creator who has created everything. You will experience being in flow, and feel content, joyful, and fulfilled.

Cultivate Positive Relationships

Positive connections with colleagues can turn work into a fun and collaborative experience. Engage in team-building activities, share stories, and foster a sense of camaraderie.

Building strong relationships makes work feel like a community. We are social beings and so we like to connect with other people. We have been created to be interdependent and are all here to grow, create, connect, and serve one another.

Seek Work With Autonomy

Autonomy allows you to take control of your work, making it more enjoyable. Flexibility in how, when, and where you work can lead to a better work-life balance, reducing stress and increasing satisfaction

Incorporate Playfulness

Playfulness in the workplace creates an enjoyable atmosphere. Include humor, team games, or casual conversations to lighten the mood. When work includes elements of fun, it’s easier to stay motivated and productive.

Set Clear Goals

Work feels more rewarding when you have clear goals and can see progress. Set achievable objectives, track your accomplishments, and celebrate milestones. This sense of achievement brings a sense of play to your work.

Embrace Growth Mindset

A growth mindset encourages you to see challenges as opportunities for learning and development. Approach your work with curiosity, and view mistakes as stepping stones to improvement. This mindset shift can make work more exciting.

Encourage A Culture Of Recognition

Feeling valued and appreciated can make a significant difference in how work feels. Create and support a culture where recognition and gratitude are common. Celebrate achievements, acknowledge hard work, and support one another.

In conclusion, you now know you probably do not like the work that you do and do not feel like working because you were convinced by your family, teacher, guidance counselor, and society to prioritize, focus, and find work in an area that makes the most money and have a prestigious title that is viewed to be of a higher social status.

You could also be spending a lot of time in a high-pressure, toxic, negative work environment, and are overworked and unhappy at work which can make you feel emotionally exhausted, experience stress, burnout, and an overall deterioration of your mental, and physical health and wellbeing.
You also learned how to transform work into play by finding purposeful work, fostering creativity, cultivating positive relationships, seeking work with autonomy, incorporating playfulness, setting clear goals, embracing a growth mindset, and encouraging a culture of recognition.
