Why Do Habits Matter And Are So Important?

Why Do Habits Matter And Are So Important?

We are all creatures of habit. There is a high chance, like me, if you are reading this that you have your own set of habits that you perform every day without giving it much thought.

Habits help us feel some normalcy, a sense of comfort, and security. They are very important for us to live our intended healthy, meaningful, fulfilling, and best life on our terms.

Our habits determine how successful we are in achieving our desired goals, the overall quality of the life that we lead, and our destiny.

So, what exactly is a habit you may be wondering? Let’s find out.

What’s A Habit In Simple Words?

A habit is something that you do repeatedly. It could be an action like brushing your teeth, words like prayers you say daily, or thoughts (consciously or subconsciously) that you think of daily.

Habits that we develop can be both good and bad for us. For example, smoking is a bad habit because it is not good for our health and can cause lung cancer while brushing your teeth at least twice a day is a very good habit to adopt for a healthy life.

You may be asking yourself, “which habits are most useful for me to develop?” Let’s list some simple life-changing habits that you can start today below.

Simple Habits That Will Change Your Life

Here are some very beneficial and healthy habits that you can incorporate into your life so that you can begin living your best life that you dream of sooner.

Daily Meditation

The practice of daily mediation has many health benefits. It improves your immunity, gives you the ability to focus, connect, and communicate with your creator.

It helps you create the time and space to hear your intuition which is the loving guidance from your creator.

When you learn to sit in silence and meditate, you learn to control your thoughts and start experiencing inner peace. I would highly recommend everybody to start meditating even if it’s just for a minute.

Ideally, you want to meditate for 20 minutes or more both in the morning and evening. The longer you meditate the better it will be for your health and wellbeing.

Practice Gratitude

A daily practice of gratitude is known to have amazing benefits. It changes your vibration, mood, and how you feel instantly.

We all have so many things to be grateful for. Smile and be grateful as soon as you wake up and open your eyes for the new day that you have been blessed with.

Also, practice gratitude and raise your energy as you are falling asleep instead of focusing on all the negative things that have happened during the day. It will calm you down, make you feel peaceful, and help you fall asleep quicker.

Gratitude is the best way to make yourself feel better throughout the day when experiencing difficult moments like feeling sad, bad, or hurt.

Practice and drench yourself in it at every opportunity you get like when you are stuck in traffic, stopped at a red light, in a lineup, and keep yourself at a higher vibration which is what you are by nature.

Remember you are love, peace, joy, compassion, and abundance by nature which are higher vibrational qualities.

The more you can stay at this vibration and connected to your creator, the easier it will be for you be not to be triggered and affected by others.

Get Enough Sleep

It is important to get sufficient hours (7-9) of sleep every day so that you can function optimally to do the work that you were born to do and fulfill your purpose. Try to go to bed early at the same time, and wake up at the same time every day.

Establish a pre-bed routine where you are off any electronics at least an hour before bed. Make sure your room is as dark as possible so that you can have an optimally restful sleep.

Reading and meditating before bed would be a good idea. It will help you go to sleep faster and peacefully.

Have A Morning Routine

Wake up as early as possible, experience the peace, and dedicate the first hour to your morning routine. Hydrate, meditate, pray, listen to and watch positive, inspirational and motivational messages and learn something new.

Have a healthy nutritious breakfast that gives your body energy and vitality. Review your goals, set your intentions for the day, and visualize your day ahead going well.

This routine will help you start your day proactively and will help you respond to people instead of reacting to them.

Practice Social Media Detox

Learn to be the master of your technology instead of the other way around. Do not go on social media first thing in the morning and fall into someone else’s agenda and let your emotions be controlled by it.

Learn to be fully attentive to your family after work and put your phone away. Live on your terms, proactively and peacefully.

Declutter Your Environment

Tidy up, organize and declutter your desk, house, and car. When you have clutter around you it will affect your focus, increase your mind chatter, and affect your peace of mind.

Donate all the things that you no longer use and give them to others and let them experience joy as they use it like you once did.

Exercise Daily

Learn to move your body and exercise every single day. Your soul, which is here to fulfill a purpose is currently housed in your body so it is important to take care of it and keep it healthy.

If you do not enjoy exercising on a treadmill or an elliptical then just put some music on and dance to get your heart rate up.

You can also do yoga, go for a nice walk out in nature, or go up and down the stairs if you have stairs in your house if the weather does not allow you to go out.

Have An Evening Routine

Have an evening routine before you go to sleep.
Journal everything that you learnt today, moments of joy experienced, all the people you impacted and served.

It is good to focus on the positive and feel good instead of thinking negative things as you fall asleep because you marinate in these thoughts for the whole night.

Be Generous

Learn to incorporate generous acts in your life. You can give your time and money. Donate your time to help others by volunteering somewhere or calling and talking to someone that needs your help.

You can also donate money to your favourite charities and causes so others can benefit from your good fortune. Remember you can contribute and help others with your money in an unlimited capacity unlike with your limited time.

Practice Positive Thinking

Learn to stay positive and think positively because it is very important for healthy self-esteem and a positive mindset. Your identity, beliefs, thoughts, feelings, words, actions, and habits create your destiny.

What you focus upon and think about will expand and come to being so be careful and intentional about what you are attracting into your life.

Know that everything in life happens for a reason and there are no accidents. The universe always has your back and life happens for you not to you.

Do what You Love

Take a break every day and do something that you love to do because you deserve a moment of joy for yourself. You can dance, sing, listen to music, read, watch a movie, talk to, visit, and spend some time with your friends and loved ones.

Practice Good Hygiene

Incorporate good hygiene habits into your day like brushing your teeth twice a day, taking a bath, washing your hands frequently, brushing your hair daily, moisturizing your body, wearing deodorant, etc.

When you practice good hygiene, you will feel, look, and be healthier.
